Ghee
You
will need:
-1 lb. Unsalted Organic Butter
- heavy sauce pan (medium size)
- jar (to store ghee)
Place
the unsalted butter in the sauce pan uncovered. Turn the heat
to medium until the butter melts. Turn down the heat allowing
a gentle bubbling.
After
about 15 minutes, the milk solids will begin turning a golden
colour and you will smell the pleasant "buttery" aroma.
When golden curds form on top remove from the heat and let cool.
Scrape
away the milk solids. The remainder is the ghee. Pour into a jar
straining any solids.
The
ghee can be stored covered at room temperature. Make sure that
you scoop your ghee with a clean, dry spoon.
Ghee
is a healthy alternative to cooking oils or butter. Ghee is a
natural digestive aiding in the absorption and elimination of
foods. It also promotes the development of tissues and improves
elasticity and flexibility. Yogis revere ghee for it's many healing
benefits. You can even massage ghee into sore joints and muscles.
It is very soothing.
