To
gain a greater understanding of the practice we are doing and
the science behind it, both through practical principles and the
philosophy, can lead to a deepening in one's own practice. We
may do these asanas, vinyasas and even pranayamas for years without
them truly penetrating the surface. To address this and give value
to practice two key areas will be focused upon during this workshop:
-
Practice based upon integrity of posture respects natural functioning
and encourages balance, which is the path of yoga.
-
Theoretical explanation that causes reflection and insight aiding
in one's own personal journey of yoga.
Practice
sessions will cover
-
key principles of asana practice
- incorporation of bandha, ujjayi and drishti with vinyasa
- ashtanga vinyasa in more detail
- pranayama basics
- discussion on philosophy and practice
The
workshop is insightful and inspiring but most of all it's loaded
with cheeky humor and lots of fun. For life is a journey refined
by the techniques of yoga and to be laughed at along the way.
Allow your intelligence to be stimulated and your pelvis to vibrate
(say no more

About
Paul
Paul
is certified by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois in ashtanga vinyasa, one
of only a few in the world and he is a senior dedicated student
of Sri O.P.Tiwari, one of the few remaining classical yogis and
master of pranayama. He has practiced pranayama for many years
under Tiwariji's direct guidance which has led to deep insight
and understanding of practice. He continues with his regular routine
of asana, pranayama and meditation on a daily basis and through
love of the subject matter keeps up a keen study of the classical
texts and scientific interpretations of what goes on in yoga.
Paul grew up in Dublin, Ireland, where humor and quick wits were
a must for survival. After completing his degree at Trinity College
he was bound for New York where his life in yoga began. Since
2001 he has been in Asia between Thailand and India with a primary
focus on practice and study. With his wife, Jutima, they opened
Yoga Thailand and continue to enjoy living there, especially since
the arrival of two lovely sons, Sean and Dylan. Oh how the years
fly
!! His unique offering is to teach direct
from the heart with both intelligence and humor.
